Who are we?
-
This is a fun event for amateur musicians. We simply aim to play the music as well as

we can - with virtually no rehearsal! - have a thoroughly enjoyable day,
-
entertain the audience, and raise a lot of money for

Cancer Research UK
-
(This year the surplus from the participants' entrance fees and the audience donations at the free concert raised an amazing £11,000)
-
There are no auditions
-
The sound created by 50 violins, 30 cellos, 8 trombones, 15 trumpets...... has to be heard. Now add 280 singers!!

The Conductor
David Pitts, a retired deputy head-teacher, was involved with school music for 30 years.

He formed the East Harptree Orchestra which, over the 25 years he conducted it, grew to 140 players, giving light-hearted marquee concerts to audiences of 900.

Since moving to the Brendon Hills David started another community orchestra at Minehead and has also been Musical Director for some musicals staged by
a group of young performers.
