  1. Who are we?
  2. This is a fun event for amateur musicians.  We simply aim to play the music as well as

  3. we can - with virtually no rehearsal! - have a thoroughly enjoyable day,

  4. entertain the audience, and raise a lot of money for

  5. Cancer Research UK

  6. (This year the surplus from the participants' entrance fees and the audience donations at the free concert raised an amazing £11,000)

  7. There are no auditions

  8. The sound created by 50 violins, 30 cellos, 8 trombones, 15 trumpets...... has to be heard.  Now add 280 singers!!

  12. There is a Fee of £20 to cover our costs, with all surplus going to

  13. Cancer Research UK;

On Sunday, Jan 12th we spend the morning (from 10 am) and early afternoon rehearsing and then perform the Concert starting at 4.30pm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Conductor

​David Pitts, a retired deputy head-teacher, was involved with school music for 30 years.

​

He formed the East Harptree Orchestra which, over the 25 years he conducted it, grew to 140 players, giving light-hearted marquee concerts to audiences of 900.

​

Since moving to the Brendon Hills David started another community orchestra at Minehead and has also been Musical Director for some musicals staged by

a group of young performers.
